Getting ready for your photography appointment

We photograph multiple homes each day, so it is important that your property be ready when we arrive. Appointments include a specific block of time for photo sessions. Below are some helpful tips on how to prepare the home for the photo shoot.

• The home will be shot as-is. We are unable to wait between shots for items to be moved or rearranged. 

• Due to liability, we are unable to move or assist in moving large items such as furniture for your photoshoot. 

• Please have your home cleaned, prepped and staged prior to your shoot. 

• Any home improvement projects should be completed and cleaned up

• We have a standard list of shots that we take in all listings. Please communicate any special shot or edit requests to us prior to your shoot.

• Do not schedule any other workers or open houses at the same time of the photo shoot.

• Please allow our photographers to begin working immediately, once they arrive.

Tips for home interiors:

• Turn on all lights and replace burned out bulbs. Make sure bulbs are consistent in each room (warm versus cool light). 

• Open curtains and blinds for windows that have views of neighborhoods or scenery. For windows that have obstructed views, open blinds but do not raise.  

• Vacuum carpets and clean tile/wood floors.

• Fluff and straighten pillows on sofas and chairs.

• Turn off televisions, computers, and all fans.

• Unplug and hide all non-essential electrical cords.

• Confirm all windows and mirrors are clean and streak free.

• Make sure beds are made and are clean.

• Close toilet lids. 

• Close shower door or curtain.

• Remove and hide all toiletries, bar soaps, shampoos, etc.

• Remove kitchen and bath mats.

• Clean off counter tops in bathrooms and kitchen.

• Make sure dining room table and chairs are clean and straight.

• Refrigerators should be free of magnets and items should not be placed on top

• Washers and Dryer areas should be cleared of loose laundry, detergent, etc.

• De-clutter the home by removing cleaning supplies, magazines, toys, etc.

• Consider taking down family pictures if you do not want them publicly posted on the internet. 

Tips for home exteriors:

• Cars should be out of driveways and the front of the home.

• Clean and sweep driveways, sidewalks and patios.

• Any landscaping projects should be completed and cleaned up

• Hide trash cans, lawn and garden tools, etc..

• Mow the yard and remove all lawn debris.

• Ensure that garden hoses are rolled up and loose items are put away

• Remove all flags, hanging ornaments, and home security signs.

• Trim bushes, trees, and plants to allow a clear view of the property.

• Put patio umbrellas up and remove BBQ grill covers.

• Clean swimming pool and put away cleaning equipment.

• Turn on any water features. 

• For twilight shoots, turn on all exterior lighting and light any gas firepits
